I have had exactly this problem with the PD150, the camera wasn't even switched off, but just stopped recording. When the camera records again, there are a couple of frames skipped in the timecode. It consistently happened across a number of cameras, and wasn't picked up until well into post production when we found major shifts in captured (again several) TC and on-tape TC.

I have't had enough time to test it but I suspect it's related to the timecode preset/regen setting, but I wanted to point out its NOT a problem with the HDV format, but with the way the Sonys regenerate TC.
