Ridiculously basic question...
My question is...what screw thread size does the Z1 take when fitting a tripod?
It's probably the least technical question in the world, but the answer would be a real help to me. I assume it's 1/4 inch...(on maybe 3/8) but as I haven't got my gear to hand, I don't know! If anyone can devote 2 minutes to having a look for me that would be a real help. Thanks, Sean UPDATE: Stupid me, I've worked it out. Many tripod plates come with two sizes of screw, 1/4 and 3/8 inch. One is small, the other is about three times the size. The Z1 takes the smaller, 1/4 inch, screw. A basic question answered! |
You're correct. The technical name for this is 1/4" NC (one quarter inch national coarse). The NC designation indicates coarse vs fine threads. AFAIK, every prosumer camcorder uses this size.

Otherwise known as 1/4 - 20 at your local hardware store. As in 20 threads per inch. I believe the 3/8 screws are 3/8 - 16
