Basic operation questions and options for someone new FX1
I have used 35mm film and DSLR cameras for years.
I know the ins and outs of how they work. I used a Canon GL2 for a few years, never really used anything advanced. Just a shotgun mic. I had it in Tv mode with the shutter at 60. Now I have a Sony FX1 I am not really sure what is the best approach, I do like the manual controls. Is there a good website or something for this?? I am using this for family home video stuff... |

this dvd came with my camera in a bundle, i had a look through once might be good for you, explains things clearly other option i guess would to just play around and have a look over the manual to see where everything is and for home movies i guess you could just stick it on auto best of luck |
I am not looking for anything specific with the HDR-FX1. But more specific with shooting video in general.
Auto mode is not the answer I am looking for. |
How about this? http://www.urbanfox.tv/workbooks/sonyz1/index.htm

One thing that is different from shooting manual in video vs. photography is that you do not adjust the shutter speed to control your exposure. You want to select the shutter speed that captures the type of motion you desire, lock it, and keep it that way. Use the FX1's internal ND filters when you're outside, or other brightly lit areas.
