Short "Virtual Water" shot on XDCAM HD for British TV
 

I was commisioned to make a film to mark today's "World water day" for Sky News and FIVE in the UK. It was broadcast today. All the water shots were shot on 50fps, the bath was interval recording and all the sound effects were from Apple's Soundtrack Pro. Edited on FCP 5.1.4 On my website under "Virtual Water"

budget!? Didn't cost anything more than just my time! 1/2 day planning and storyboarding, 1 day shoot, 1 day edit.

It's more the time issue, so often as a cameraman you are expected to arrive on a shoot and make it up as you go along. Having that bit extra in the budget for a storyboard makes so much difference, yet is rarely done these days.

absolutely...it depends on how much you can get involved. Relying on others to do things like storyboards etc is what generally happens and in reality it's on on the hoof which sometimes works but sometimes really doesnt. Hence when I direct stuff myself it's so much more satisfting and clockwork!!

nope, all shot on standard hd canon lens

Interesting story, Phil. I've never given much thought to the ancillary water used for food growth, etc. But doesn't much of that water eventually get back to the Earth in the form of run-off, and sewage water treatment plants?

Hi Philip, hope you're well.
I believed you used a fisheye adaptor on your F350 for a production a while ago. I am shooting with a Fujinon xs17x5.5 (believe it is a 82mm lens), do you if there is an adaptor you could recommend, or even a good wide angle one out there? I have to shoot some stuff in Shanghai in a couple of weeks and I know there will be a couple of tight locations. I'll be filming the tallest building in the world the SWDC and a wide will be so useful. At the moment I can't afford to buy a wide angle lens for this. Do you use a wide angle, interested to know which one if you do? Be happy to hire it off you for the week if you were interested. I'm based in essex for your interest.

No, I just have the wide angle adaptor for my Canon lens, I use a fisheye sometimes too.
