Seems much improved over previous models, including the A7r ii and A7sii.




All of these were shot in Standard color.

Thanks. I guess I have to say the A6500, for two reasons: 1. The AF is much better. Does not mean I use AF a lot, but AF works to achieve focus that I can then lock. And when subjects are moving around, its PDAF system really helps. 2. The resolution is visibly better, and we know why - the A7s ii just uses enough pixels for 4K; the A6500 oversamples from more pixels.

The A6500 sensor is big enough to give nice bokeh shots. And I think the color from the A6500 is significantly better ooc.

The A7s ii does magic in the dark, of course.

Thats great Mark thanks, i am on the look out for another small factor camera, was looking at sony A7sii or A7rii but reports are all saying the A6500 good enough if not better , trouble is? is the A6500 a slouch in low light or ok say 6400 iso? steve

For top quality 4K, you have to shoot in APS-C mode on the A7r ii, so you don't get that full-frame look. I have not as high as ISO6400 on the A6500, but at 4000 or so it looked good.

Thas nice thanks Mark, if there where one or two lens only to afford what would they be even just one probably around the 1.8 or 2.8 aperture? steve

I like the Sony FE 28mm f2.0 lens; compact, good for low light and a generally useful focal length. Very sharp. The A6500 IBIS effectively stabilizes the lens for handheld use. And a bonus is that you can add an adaptor that makes the lens a 21mm wide-angle, with no loss in resolution.

The "After the Rain' video was shot with the 50mm f1.8 OSS. It is perfectly fine. The real issue is focal length - shooting 4K at 30P, the 50mm is like an 87mm lens, telephoto. The 28mm is like a 50mm lens, normal. So it depends what you want to shoot. I have not used the 35mm (gives you about 60mm).
