Worth Every Penny

Here is a quick short film I made with my HVR-V1U. There's a little self-deprecation here, but perhaps there's a few of you DVD-addicts that can relate to this! :)

Upcoming Music Video Release

Im working on a music video for a band from kansas. There EP will be released in October. The drummer wrote this song about his best friend who became ill and passed away suddenly. There are still some small tweaks in the works but your thoughts and comments would be great.

Skag - Short pub scene - Bad language

This is a new short scene ive just finished doing, please let me know what you think mainly in the areas of;

Camera work
Sound
Acting
picture
editing

The actor wanted it modeled on the "Shameless" type editing and camera work as seen on Channel 4.
follow the below link to see it.

Thanks for the input.

I don't watch TV, and I don't receive C4 so I don't know what you were trying to model it on, but I assume all the shaking and zooming is intentional. I don't like it too much but it's your work. I didn't like the way it shook. It just wasn't very aesthetic to my eyes.

The sound was clear, and I really enjoyed listening to their working class accents (was it substantially different from their real ones?) One thing I did not like is that the ambient sound seemed to be looped. It would have been better if you had recorded some real pub sound.

The lighting was a bit flat too but I assume it was part of the style. I like more dramatic lighting myself. It just seemed so drab. I do realize that they were in a tight spot so there might not have been any place to put the lights.

So that's it from me...

Beware of the bloopers, not for the serious at heart... Otherwise, it's got a LOT of 60i->24p slow-mo.

Lobster and Olives ---->some feedback would be cool, *hint*hint!

hey guys, i recently shot this dry subtly humourous dialogue based short. it was tricky because we wanted to shoot it in a moving car and so we built a door mount to hold the camera outside the car and though i was pleased that my camera didnt fall off and meet its doom with the asphalt, i was dissapointed that it shook so much, i realise what i have to do to improve it but i thought i'd share the film with you guys anyways cause i'd like to hear some comments(positive and negative).
the compression looks kinda shit, and i apologize(i also blame youtube). and its a slow start with poor acting as it was distracting for the driver to be remembering his lines and knowing that he's got the fate of my camera dangling outside his window, in his hands.
we rushed the shoot it and didnt spend too much time rehearsing, which as you will see was an obvious mistake. but productionwise, i'd like to hear some feedback from you guys.

thanks for taking the time.

Comment on mine and I'll comment on yours. ;)

Seriously though, it was pretty good. The acting seemed a little forced at times. The camera was also quite shaky. Every bump you hit while driving really showed up.

I really liked the script though. Very well written. Some of the camera angles were quite nice as well.

I'm not 100% on the ending though.

Overall, it kept my attention and I enjoyed it.

Keep it up...

Mike

Not bad. I really liked the look of it, seemed pretty authentic.
As a teaser... not too bad. I'm not sure if the child looks uncomfortable enough.

Not enough seen to judge though.

Looks good so far...

Before reading your sig I was thinking that this was shot on the FX7. Am I right? The color and the long lens shots (very nice) look familiar.

Trailer for Church documentary

I'm currently working on a documentary for Manheim BIC. So far we've shot nearly 80 hours of footage(w/ a firestore) and just wrapped principal photography last week. I threw this trailer together for their counsel meeting last Sunday. I've read some negative reviews about the firestore, but I haven't experienced any problems. I love it. Anyway your thoughts or questions on the trailer would be appreciated.
