FILMMAKERS:Showcase your horror film at a haunted hotel!

The Estes Park Film Festival in Colorado is looking for short films in the suspense/horror genre to screen at the Stanley Hotel as part of our second annual event. Short films in the Suspense/Horror genre will be showcased at the Stanley’s famous Concert Hall on Sunday, September 16th. The Stanley Hotel is famous among film aficionados for its inspirational role in Stephen King's novel "The Shining".

Known for its architecture and magnificent setting, the Stanley Hotel has been an Estes Park landmark since 1909. The hotel has been featured in film and television as one of America’s most haunted hotels, with numerous stories from visitors and staff.

The EPFF is headquartered at the historic Park Theatre in downtown Estes Park. Both the Stanley Hotel and Park Theatre are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The 2nd Annual Estes Park Film Festival will take place September 14th through the 16th, 2007 with an awards ceremony on the final night! Our first film festival showcased 35 films from across the country at the oldest movie theatre west of the Mississippi. In addition to the Park Theatre, our 2nd annual festival will also screen student films at the Lakeshore Lodge and the Historic Stanley Hotel (made famous by Stephen King's book and film The Shining).

Visit www.estesparkfilm.com to submit your film!

Children Purple - Animation

Hey everyone. Been a while since I posted here. Well, I've been busy with school and my new job etc. Anyways here is a video I was working on, it's now finished.

It's not a live action video, it's an animation I made with my scanner, and photo feature on my Sony camcorder. It doesn't really have a story, it's more of an experimental music video. There are hidden cryptic messages in it if any anyone is extremely bored and feels like solving them.

Thanks everyone,
Justin

Flashes from Japan

Over the past 6 months I have been adding high resolution clips from Japan to my site.
If you have a moment over, please surf over to my site and take a look at the clips in the Gallery section.
Most clips need a fast BroadBand connection to keep the download time short. However I have now started to add lower resolution versions to make the clips more accessible.
You'll need Flash player 8 too!

Let me know what you think.
Thanks in advance,
Douglas

Andy,

I was wondering where you guys were at with this.

I just finished watching the pilot and really enjoyed it. The production value is up. Nicely cut, great ensemble.

I loved the addition of the Dwight Shrute bobblehead. And the Lance Hunter game show meltdown.

BTW, did I just see Ben/Jamie on a national commercial for Rogers?

As I recall, you were going to pitch it to the Comedy Channel?

Good luck with it, and keep us posted. It is kind of addicting.

Is this for real? I thought it was a spoof, I mean, you've got a bath in your kitchen. Must be a spoof.

Strangely though, I actually quite enjoyed it. But, it did feel like the equivalent of reading someone's private love letter.

Liam.

My Fake Get a Mac Ad - "Copycat"

Hello Everyone,

I have just completed a fictional commercial, entitled, "Copycat." It is one of the many fake Get a Mac ads out there. I wanted to take a professional approach and see that with the presence that Windows Vista looks similiar to Mac OSX, I could that from concept to a finished piece. My girlfriend came up with the idea, and was behind the camera while my friend Tom, the PC Guy and I were in front of the camera. It was shot on my HD110 at 720P/24P.

Please note that we did not have a green screen or good lighting (as evidenced in the Outtakes section).

I would really like to know what professionals and amateurs alike think so please critique--I would like to know both the good and the bad.

I also recently learned better webpage creation techniques, such as SEO. I wanted to experiment with that as well, so I built the site around that. While I did use some graphics from Apple.com, I did my own coding. I took the concept of "copycatting" into the design of the website.

And finally, here is the website: http://www.justinsabo.com/js/getamac

Thanks again for taking the time to view/review it!

My 10 pence worth:

If you're going to 'copy' something, you should make sure you add something or improve something from the original. This just looked homespun, actually it looked like a Microsoft Christmas video.

Hard, but I hope fair.

Liam.

Although these Mac Ads seem to be quite mock-magnets, this one certainly sticks out in quality and professionalism.

I have to be honest, it did make me smile; but not laugh out loud. Well done though!

Looks pretty good for the lighting and backdrop you had (as seen in the outtakes section). But I could see there was something strange about the background in the video. Good job though. Keep shooting.

Some Music Videos (most of them DSR-400pk)

Hello everyone!

Here you have a bunch of music videos we´ve done the past year.

http://www.youtube.com/profile_video...antizon&page=2

All were done with a budget between 400€ and 1800€.
We do everything in the process, from idea to delivery.
90% were shot with a DVCam Dsr-400pk (fujinon 17x9mm).
Edited in FCP, with some AEFX.

We don´t have too much time to spend in each project, they are always in a hurry. :( I think that could be the major problem with our videos... they look kind of fastdone...

Thanks for taking the time to view it!

Sean Gillane April 6th, 2007 11:49 AM

"Soy la Ley" was a pretty cool song with a pretty cool video. It looked like you probably spent the most time on that one too, so there might be some truth to what you\'re saying. I wouldn\'t say the others felt like they were rushed productions, they just aren\'t at the same level. Nice work.
