Wow that seems like some deeply flawed logic to me. This is what I saw:

-Small budget films can't make money anymore because no one wants to watch them, so Amazon only buys 20 copies... plus the retail model doesn't require stores to buy 50,000 copies to stock their shelves anymore -

Did I miss something?

On the flip side, it seems like digital distribution would mean it's easier to get your movie in front of people, but that you're unlikely to make any money until you get hired to make your 2nd film, because of the good work on your first.

Digital distribution is great.... except you have no way to reach MASS audiences without the P&A budgets that the major studios have. There is little to no profit compared to budgets so far with just digital distribution. That will change over time, but that's not now. I'm speaking to the here and now not the future.
