A Shoulder Support, that allows a tripod plate below it
Hi
I have a new XH-A1, terrible camera to handhold (particularly after having a XL1 previously) Anyway I have looked at available supports, eg spiderbrace, and have decided all I need is a simple shoulder pad, that allows me to connect a tripod plate below it, much like this http://www.videoguys.com.au/scripts/...idproduct=1451 I want to try making my own, as I think $600 (AUD) for the above model is way overpriced. has anyone made a simple shoulder support, without handgrips, that allows a tripod plate attached below? |
For me it made more sense to mount a quick release adapter to the top of my DVMultiRig. The quick release plate stays on the bottom of the camcorder.

I do a lot of backpack filmmaking, the dvmultirig may be overkill for me, I just need something small and light, no need for handgrips

Hi Mark,
I've been using the Cavision shoulder mount with my Z1 and it helps enormously to keep things steady. I have also added a Manfrotto Universal plate to the tripod. This means I can very quickly take the shoulder mount off and place the camera on the tripod. I think you'll find most of these add on mounts make tripod use awkward.... Cheers Gareth |
Multirig Pro on a tripod
Funny cos I just tried a DVRigPro on a tripod recently.
I guess it's possible to do with any kind rig if can fit a plate on it somewhere on the bottom. http://www.dvinfo.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=780&c=50 http://www.dvinfo.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=779&c=50 http://www.dvinfo.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=778&c=50 http://www.dvinfo.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=777&c=50 http://www.dvinfo.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=776&c=50 http://www.dvinfo.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=775&c=50 |

Hopefully I'm not coming across as biased, so here's another non-DVTEC link for some interesting camera mounts:
