Cinematography Theory & Practice

Cinematography : Image Making for Cinematographers, Directors and Videographers
by Blain Brown

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg.../-/0240805003/

Just picked this book up on Friday so my recommendation may be a bit premature but from what I've read so far I think I can recommend it.

The book covers many aspects of the cinematographic process from the basic principles of lens types and cinematic techniques to colour theory, shooting on DV/High Def and bleach bypass. So it covers quite a wide range of topics.

It's the kind of book I like. It covers the basics, which is always worth a read as one can usually find out something new, especially in this book as there are examples images from films, all the way to technical information.

Have you read "The Five C's of Cinematography?" I'd like something to supplement that. Is this a good choice?

I know of "The Five C's…" but have not read it. I've been dipping into the book I mentioned and have found it to be pretty good.

Sorry I can't suggest it as a supplement to "The Five C's…" but I don't think you'll be dissapionted if you were to pick up a copy.
