It has an XL mount (with built-in relay lens) so you attach the adapter directly to the body of the XL2.

Compatible Cameras:

LetusXL adapter can be used with Canon XL series cameras which includes XL1, XL1s, XL2 and the new XLH1. Canon keeps the same mount for several versions, so I hope this adapter will be compatible with future versions. LetusHD100 is compatible with JVC HD100 series. I also hope future JVCs will use the same mount.

These adapters will connect to the camera's body without the need of the stock lenses. The pictures above showing the adapters mounted on Cavision Rods to demonstrate compatibility. The adapters can also be used without any rods support system.

The HV10 shoots in SD as well,so you are kinda future proofing, it is much better than the trv's IMO.
