Roderick Finch April 24th, 2004 06:34 PM

that is a bit high for that vaio, for that you are looking at about 700$ at the most .....
but I could be wrong, I would tone down the price alot.
1500$ you can get a new laptop that is faster and better than that ...

Going to fleabay...

no interest?

off to fleabay this weekend.

Glen Elliott April 24th, 2004 08:23 PM

You know what...your right. I just visited a few sites and for a little bit more you can get a laptop with a bit more juice...just not the same screen the UXGA screen IS something to behold. I think that's why I overpaid on it- $3000 is steep even for a high end Vaio. It was the first year they used the high res UXGA 16" screen. The following year they released a 2.6 mhz w/ dvd burner for $2500.

Update: If your interested make me an offer- if it's reasonable I won't turn it down.

Alani Heredia April 26th, 2004 09:25 PM

how much should i pay?

how much should i pay for a near mint vx1000?
looking to buy one from someone and dont want to be over charged.

Frank Granovski April 26th, 2004 09:42 PM

$600 US. In fact, I wouldn't even pay $200 for one.

You'd be much better off with a used VX2000---for $1450 US maybe?

Sam Forbes April 26th, 2004 10:05 PM

I agree, I wouldn't pay too much for one but look at ebay sometime. People pay very high prices for any 3ccd unit. Vx1000's can bring 12 or $1300 easily. Used Vx2000's normally can't be touched for under $1800. Once in a while they can but most of them sell for around $1700 to $2000. Used GL1's bring $1200 to $1500. It's crazy but people on ebay will pay almost new prices for a used camera. I don't understand, but check for yourself, it's happening.

Alani Heredia April 26th, 2004 11:37 PM

Thanks for the info.
i actually own a dvx100, but my friend has a vx1000 that he has never used. so i was willing to take it off his hands. i wanted to know how much i should give him for it. i dont really need the camera though.

-thanks again.

On Camera Buying...

I am looking to buy a good, used 3 CCD DV video camera for personal use and to make videos of a few events. I have been reading a lot of information on the internet about it, and realise that there is a lot of personal preference involved in choosing a camera. I have little experience with higher-quality video so I don't really have a preference.

The camera's that seem to stick out are the Sony TRV900, VX1000, VX2000, and the Canon GL-1 and GL-2, though the GL-2 and the VX2000 are out of my price range (I'd like to spend no more than $1500 Canadian which is ~$1100 US). Even the other cameras I mentioned, judging from the prices on EBay, are stretching my price limit.

What I am wondering is where are the best places to buy used video cameras, both in terms of price and quality? I would appreciate a bargain, but if I am guarenteed a good camera, I would pay a bit more. I am on Vancouver Island in BC, if there is anyone that can give region-specific tips. It would also be nice to go somewhere to actually see some of these cameras in person, you know, touch them a little, that sort of thing.

Thanks for any help!

Extreme sports video

If you are in need of an extreme sports angle for your movie, product or brand, email me @ Bryan@medialincllc.com. I have stock video of jumps from Cliffs , bridges, towers and buildings. I can also put together a project to get you custom views from exotic sites all around the world.

Prices for stock video start at $1150.00 per minute, w/1minute minimum.

Prices for custom projects vary greatly and are dependent mostly on travel and level of risk involved.

No projects will be accepted from the media interested in portraying BASE jumpers as "adrenaline junkies" or "social outcasts" or anything perceived by me as negative.

Terry Lyons April 28th, 2004 08:47 AM

Hi Bryan, Im sorry my reply has nothing to do with what you are looking for but I had posted earlier about extreme sports camera stabilization. My question is how do you stabilize the video cam of the guy skiing along side a snowboarder. I saw a few glancing shots of a handle bar looking setup but thats all I saw I couldnt see the cam, stabilizer or anything. It just looked like the camera man had a big U shaped handlebar with the cam on front. I ski with a steady cam jr but the cameras I want to put on there now are to heavy. Any ideas? Thanks TL

Why i am selling and condition of items

Hi,
Here's the deal on why and what exactly I am selling. I bought the GL2 and the package about 2 1/2 weeks ago. For months I really wanted the DVX100 because I am an anspiring filmmaker but I decided I wanted to give the GL2 a chance since I didnt have a lot of money and I was sure my fist video projects wouldnt be until down the road. Ironically 2 weeks later I got 2 good paying gigs and I now have the chance the direct a music video. I opened the GL2 knowing I was gonna put it back and re sell it so I have EVERYTHING that came with it and all of the accesories are still in the box. I only tested out the GL2 in my home for about an hour or less. I even confirmed with Canon that I bought the camera from an official Canon reseller. I even have the box it shipped in with all the little small white protective flurrys.
This is what the package includes:
-Canon GL2 USA model (DM-GL2 Unit) Perfect mint condition, only tested out for an hour or so (the camera package comes with a Cannon B9930 battery, shoulder strap, lens hood, 2 eye cups, remote control, usb cable, s-video cable, av cables, 8mb Sd card, battery charger, dc coupler, and a photo software CD.
-Extra Baterry -db-bp930 (Never Used)
-3pc filter set from Mercury Innovations (Never used)
-Wide Angle lens from Digital Optics (never used)
-Telephoto lens from Digital Optics (never used)
-Canon VL-3 light (never used)
-Vid Pro Deluxe camera (never used)
-MGear 55' tripod with fluid head (never used)
-Panasonic DV Tape (never used)
-Mack Camera 4 year extended warranty on parts and Labor (the camera is still under Canon warranty for another 11 months) (the extended warranty papers even still have the sticker on them)

If you are interested in buying please email me asap. You can buy it now for just 2399, it's a great deal. The camera and everything is packaged up and ready to be shipped from a UPS center near my home. Everything will be legit thru PayPal and I am in Los Angeles, California.
Let me know,
Thanks,
Carlos
