Looking for cheap flood (tungsten) lights with barn doors!
Hey Guys:
I'm looking into buying as flood light kit (2-3 lights) for indoor interview shoots. I have a relatively low budget. I have looked into websites like B&H and Adorama. The ones i liked are: Smith Victors - K102 Attache Tungsten Light Kit - K61 Thrifty Quartz Tungsten Light Kit and, Lowel pro lights , offcourse ( the best and most popular) but they are costing me something in the range of $ 350-450 (with accesories such as 4 barndoors, stands, lamps, stand etc.) can some one kindly suggest some cheaper flood lights, i would prefer barndoors with them. Please post a link if you can. Thanks |
Smith-Victor is about the cheapest thing out there, although you might look at imagewest.tv. They have some cheap stuff too.

Pro lights go for about $100-130 each depending on accessories on E-Bay. I have bought all mine there.

... and Three Point Lighting is not necessarily the
only way to go. Check out this kit: Lowel | Pro-Light Two Light Tungsten Kit (120-240VAC/12-30VDC) It won't break your bank, and it will give you barndoors, umbrellas, and plenty of light. Best Vasco |
I have a bunch of smith victor sg720's and they are study little floods... a roll of cine foil goes a long way for light control as well....
but.... I think I prefer to travel with lowel tota's.... just easier to travel with. I really like the lowel pro lights as well.... great little obie style lights.... very handy. I gel all my tungsten to daylight now.... as silicon based sensors yield cleaner shadows with daylight..... but that's another topic. |
Impact Qualite kit
B&H has a nice deal on a pair of 300w focusing lights with barndoors, stands, and umbrellas for $200:
Impact | Qualite 300 Focusing Flood 2 Light Kit (120VAC) | B&H Ken |
Thanks guys i'll look into it...
I already have to soft box lights (500W each), will two impact 300W lights will be enough if i have 3 subjects seated on bar type stolls all aligned together in one line facing the camera (canon xl2). Will the lighting be enough???, oh ya they will be sitting in from of a chorma key.
thanks |
