Panasonic announces 4GB SD cards
SD 2.0 Standard (SDHC). Shipping this summer. I'm guessing this could lead to an announcement at NAB of 16GB P2 cards, though they probably wouldn't release till the summer. Enjoy...

Thanks. I bet you're right; at NAB they'll trot out the 16GB P2 cards along with the full-size shoulder-mount 2/3rd-inch DVCPRO HD P2 camcorder. Model number escapes me at the moment.

Not "so fast"

The cards are expected to be Class 2 products, capable of a 2Mbps. The SDHC specs, also known as the SD 2.0 standard, have minimum sustained data rates of 2, 4, and 6 Mbps. The new standard is expected to allow for capacities up to 32MB. Please note the data rate -- "capable of a 2Mbps." Even in a P2 RAID, that's not 100Mbps. SDHC means "SD High Capacity." |

P2 runs at 640 Mbps (80 MBps). Even at 6 MBps (48 Mbps), these cards are woefully short of that. But, it IS nice to see the capacity improvements.

Could these be cards intended for the HD version of the Panasonic AV100?
