S5iiX actual output info
I'm making comparisons to the S1H and newer S5iiX, however I can't find anything that discusses the actual output from either camera.
The Panny manual just shows frame size and frame-rate. That's only 1/3rd the required info needed. What's the bitrate at 6K 24P? The color space, 4:2:0, 4:2:2...? I can't find anything that gives those specs. Anybody know,?? Don't bother guessing or making assumptions, I need real-world data. |

Re: S5iiX actual output info
I don't know anything about the S5iix, but if you can get your hands on a S1H, all of that information is shown right onboard the camera as you scroll through the various combinations of codec, resolution, frame-rate, etc. I'm 1500 miles from my S1H and won't see it again until October, so I can't help with more details.

Re: S5iiX actual output info
Precisely what I needed and proof the S1H is the perfect hybrid for my needs.
Needed the high bitrate 4K 10-bit 422 color for video and, the ultra-high resolution EVF for stills shooting. (I only use manual-focus film lenses so AF is useless, but a good finder is gold. Closest to an optical finder I've seen on any camera.) Thanks, now I can start rebuilding around that body. |

Yes, I have nothing but good things to say about the S1H -- except for auto-focus. So if you don't need that, then you're golden. It has beautiful image quality.

Re: S5iiX actual output info
Although I'm brand agnostic I've always ended up using Panny cameras over the years, most especially for the off-chip color. Much more organic than Sony, JVC, Ikegami etc. It's why I fell in love with the HVX200 and got hired as a consultant to Panny back in the mid-2000's so I could share all the goodness of what was then revolutionary stuff, global shutter and 422 color.
Seems I'm on the same path again. Thanks for the info. Too bad it's impossible to find without a camera on-hand. |
