Best EF lenses for GH5 II scenery videos
 

Hi everybody,

Since late 2021, I've been shooting wildlife and scenery with a Panasonic LUMIX GH5 II and EF lenses attached with the Metabones Micro Four Thirds T Smart Adapter for Canon EF Lens. I keep the adapter firmly secured to my camera with the SmallRig Camera Cage for Panasonic Lumix GH5/GH5 II and GH5S CCP2646. I already had Canon EF lenses before getting my GH5 II.

With this setup in mind, what EF lenses do you think would work best for shooting scenery videos? I want zoom capability, relatively wide angles, and the ability to simultaneously keep focus on background and foreground objects. I shoot a lot of ocean vistas and sunsets. My go-to lens for scenery videos is the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 AF IS USM Lens, which I used to mainly use for still photos with the Canon 70D. Can I do much better than this lens for a similar price/zoom range? Are there one or two that are obviously better options/values? I often wish I could zoom in just a bit farther and get shots that are a bit wider. I realize I may need to 2 lenses to accomplish his.

I also have the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM and Canon EF 28-300mm F3.5-5.6L IS USM lenses, but they don't seem as sharp. The 28-300 is also super heavy and not great for hikes. I use the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Canon EF with a Canon Extender EF 1.4x for wildlife and some scenery, and this setup does an amazing job, but it zooms too far for most scenery.
