Dear Panasonic - time to shift to XQD memorycards please. Then you can do anything you want when you are not really limited to data speed on the memory card ,

XQD is currently the domain of Sony and Nikon. Panasonic would have to license it from Sony, and that's not quite what they want.

UHS-III sounds promising though.

Jack - I know. Panasonic and Sony work together with Oled panels so why not XQD too ;)

On the heels of that rumor, Kingston has announced UHS-3 cards capable of recording nearly that fast: Kingston Digital Introduces SDHC/SDXC UHS-I Speed Class 3 (U3) Memory Cards | techPowerUp

But 4:2:2 10bit 4K (at even 30p) would be pretty good. It also may be that they're sticking to the 16MP sensor in the GH3, so we'll have very similar sensitivity figures.

I feel like I am missing something here. In the link above they say this below, and my SanDisc Extreme Pro cards in the link below that at B&H are already doing 95mbs read and 90 write. What has changed or improved that we are talking about these new Kingston cards?

"The SD Association's latest specification, UHS-I U3 (Ultra High-Speed Bus, Speed Class 3), guarantees performance of at least 30 MB/s read and write, enough bandwidth to record and playback 4K video without interruption. Kingston's SDHC/SDXC UHS-I Speed Class 3 card provides speeds of 90 MB/s read and 80 MB/s write, which is up to 9x faster (read) and up to 8x faster (write) than standard Class 10 SD cards. The faster speeds ensure the best video and photo integrity by reducing stutter as well as faster PC upload time especially when using USB 3.0 card readers."

I have 1 32gb and 3 64gb cards of these:

The micro P2 cards have an extra row of contacts. I would suppose this has something to do with recording at the higher bitrate.

Yes, just checked and mine don't. But the "specs" for read and write are just as high or higher than that one above. Where or how does the extra row of contacts give its advantage?

Well, just guessing at this point but I would think that your card would work up to 1080p. The write speed at 4k with the micro P2 card might have some type of data verification or redundancy process at work using the other row.
