LANC stopped working
 

The remote zoom control on my HC-X1 stopped working. Have been using a Manfrotto LANC for years without issue, all of a sudden it doesn't work. Just bought a new Manfrotto, plugged it in, and nothing. I assume the issue is with the camera. Any idea what would cause this, and is there a fix?

It is known that you can create a static discharge when plugging and unplugging LANC controls on a powered up camera. So I have been told by my regular tech. This can damage a control IC apparently. It is recommended to never plug or unplug when there is power to the camera. I've blown one myself on a Sony FS7.
