I bought a Varizoom remote which also allows remote focus and aperture control: VariZoom VZROCKPZFI | Panasonic Zoom / Focus / Iris Control via two plugs.

Matt, does that one disable the lens ?
I tried one in the shop on mine and it disabled the lens which is why i didn't get it, i can't remember what make it was though.

Re: panasonic hc-x1

No, this one works really well.

I first bought a Libec ZFC 5HD and that allowed remote focusing but it meant the aperture was always on auto, so I returned it and got the Varizoom.

Re: panasonic hc-x1

Just ordered an HC-X1, should arrive by this weekend. The manual says that the camera is compatible with SDXC cards from 48 to 128 GB, as of November 2016. San Disk makes a Class 3 SDXC card of 512GB. Any one know if the camera will work with the 512GB card, or any card larger than 128GB?
Thanks,
Len

Re: panasonic hc-x1

I called Panasonic technical support and they said all of their camcorders and cameras are limited to 128 GB cards, due to "video rights", whatever that means.

Re: panasonic hc-x1

Well I've been using Lexar 256 GB cards in the DVX200 and AG-AC160 without any dramas since they came out!
Cheers,, Vaughan

Re: panasonic hc-x1

I'm thinking of picking up a 256. I was recently filming 4k on a 128 and ran out of space. It's a weird camera the rec light starts blinking red and I couldn't tell if was going to stop recording or switch to the other card. The red light for the other card didn't turn on so I was freaking.

Re: panasonic hc-x1

Thanks for the replies. Pete, if you try the 256 gb card on the HC-x1, let me know if it works, and you can use all of the 256 gb.

Thanks,

Len

SanDisk 256gb cards work fine. Been using them for several months.

Re: panasonic hc-x1

Thanks. Have you been able to use all 256 GB?

Re: panasonic hc-x1

Hi Len, I've never filled a card but certainly I have been close and well over 128gb before. I shoot with 2x 256gb cards, simultaneously Hope this helps. John.

Re: panasonic hc-x1

Thanks John. I'll try a 256 gb card and see how it goes.

Panasonic HC-X1 white balance

Hi all, just received my HC-X1 and trying to do an initial set up. Having trouble with the white balance. Shooting indoors with 3200K LED lights. The screen read out says 3200, but the colors on the flip out screen are way off with weird color casts. It's not a problem with the lights because my Canon XF-100 nailed the colors with no problem. I have attempted to read the manual, but it is barely understandable. I changed to manual, and have cycled through Ach Bch, etc, but there is no improvement. Can anyone explain to me how to set the white balance so what I see is what i get? Thanks.

Re: panasonic hc-x1

Perform a PUSH TO WHITE on A or B, to determine what that camera "thinks" is incandescent white. My Sony cameras think it's 3500-3600k...my JVC's on the same light think 3200-3300k. Once you know the kelvin, you can set a manual kelvin for PRESET.

Paul
