DVX100a question
Hi,
I assume the DVX100a has analog out. Can you output 25p from the analog out or just from firewire? How does it look on a CRT video monitor since monitor is analog? Does it still look like progressive video? Thanks. |
Yes it has analog out (RCA composite video and also S-video).
Yes you can output 25p to a regular television. It looks like film that's been transferred to video. Yes it retains the progressive look. |
Thank you Barry. How dos it work to see progressive in CRT?

Notice he said "look". You are getting 24fps into cam, and the image is truly frames, rather than 60 partial images. But of course it is displayed interlaced, so it is not pure progressive. Every other scan will be a mixed frame. But half will NOT be, thus the "look". And then you have the pulldown issue. So it comes out as sort of a hybrid. But since the original is 24p, the pulldown and interlacing is all based on that. Of course, I could be wrong, in which case I better go back to school.

The DVX works the same way. True 24p acquisition, which can be mastered to true 24p output. If displaying on a television, some conversion will have to take place to make the signal compatible with NTSC, and that conversion is handled by the DVD player. |
