I'm thinking of getting a second DVX100 to my arsenal...

$1300, 444 hours, busted firewire port......which I mentioned in a previous post that I don't use these cameras as a deck anyway...

What do you guys think? Is it worth it?

Does the busted port signify a rough, tough life in the hands of a indie-junkie? This is the pre A model? Have you had a good look at it, run some footage through it while listening carefully to the deck?

Here's the ad: http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/pho/630884032.html (I talked him into dropping it down a couple hundred because of the busted firewire)

It's an A model. The busted port AND 444 hours (most I've seen on a used camera for sale) does indeed sound like a camera junkie. I haven't yet checked out the camera. However I'm not sure why I feel this but he seems extra eager to sell this camera...

I'd no idea what my 2 yr old Z1 had cloched up so I've just looked - 120 hrs drum run

i wouldnt trust it. you need to record something in each setting and use your deck camera to download the footage to a laptop before you buy it. if the deal makes you nervous, my vote would be to back off it. Trust your gut.

Thinking about buying my first camera of this style ..

I.ve been seriously looking at the Panasonic DVX100b for like a week now at bhphoto ...... bout 2400 I think.

I plan to shoot ........... female model / photoshoots and wildlife. Now from what I've read here and other places, the 100b doesn't get out and touch you with any great zoom capability .. which probably wouldn't be a problem for photoshoots, but wildlife is much different. I use a Hi 8 digicam with 20x optical zoom - 760 digital now and it captures, but I'd like to do better !! Is comparing this Hi 8 to a dvx100b apples and oranges ??

Is there anybody using their camera for either / both of the above.

Does anybody know anybody using prosumer, pro camcorders for wildlife that the normal guy could afford.

Certainly appreciate any and all replys .. and shore hope I can find this thread again to find out if there were any replys !!!!!
