Remote controller for HMC40
 

I would like to have recommendations on what remote controllers that I can attach to the video head handle to control the zoom function as well as start/stop recording for the Panasonic AG-HMC40. Many thanks. in advance.

I have the Libec ZC3DV for my DVC30, and I really like it. It's the lowest price one I've found, and it works really well. The VariZoom controllers are a little more rugged and lower profile, but also about twice the price.

The varizoom rock dvx is the best I have used. I have several different part time camera operators and they all love the varizoom. You can control the zoom speed so much better with the varizoom remote than with the zoom rocker itself.

Do you know for sure that the Varizoom or the Libec will work on the HMC40? Thanks.

I know that the DVC30 and the HMC40 are very similar cameras, and they both have the same remote port. The Libec website states compatibility with all Panasonic professional MiniDV and HDV cameras That said, I have not tested it myself.

Adorama selling the Libec ZC 3DV for $89.95. I emailed asking them if it would work with HMC40. If it does, I'll get one.

I use the Libec on my HMC40. Also, there is a switch on the Libec to convert it from the Panasonic protocol to the Sony Lanc protocol - it also works on my Sony HDR-HC3.

Kein, which Libec controller you use on your HMC40? I wrote to Adorama but never got an answer from them.

I never got the answer from Adorama, so I looked up the B&H website and read the customer reviews. A couple of customers were very happy with the Libec ZC 3DV on their HMC40. I ordered one unit from BH, tested it out yesterday. It works real well on my HMC40.
