Big Rig vs Stripped down AF101?
Hi all,
We're putting together our first proper AF101 rig and I'm torn between a rails-mattebox-shouldermount big rig or a stripped down super-simple lens-hood-only rig. Usage is for B-cam to a big HD camcorder, shooting alternate angles, POVs, etc. etc. For broadcast reasons we HAVE to use a NanoFlash, so the simplest it gets is Olof's NF mount, but then, how to power the NF? Alternatively we're into rails and shoulder mounts, but then you need a Cineroid EVF to make it usable. So...anyone care to pontificate on the pros and cons of Big Rig vs super-simple AF101 setups? Thanks Dave |

Dave, right now you have several choices to power the NF on my AF100 bracket.
The simplest is to use one of the batteries available from NanoFlash.net ans simply velcro it to the NF, this works very well with the smallest 2 cell battery. I also make a dovetail fixture that can hold a Dolgin battery plate so you can use the Panasonic AF100 battery attached to the NanoFlash or my shoulder bracket. I also have an option on my shoulder bracket to use IDX or AB battery to balance the camera and power the NF and the AF100. Swit is working on a battery that will power both the AF100 and the NF, not shipping yet. Here are 2 photos one of the simplest solution. And the second with the IDX on the shoulder mount. Thanks Olof.
I just found out about the SWIT S-8BG6 batteries with the DC power tap that could power the NanoFlash, so I think we will go that route for powering. Do you have a UK reseller? Thanks Dave |
