High Speed Camera for Sports Motion Analysis?
Is anyone filming golf swings and baseball swings for frame by frame analysis?
What camera do you recommend (in the under $1K price range if possible)? THANKS MUCH! -Peter |
i bet there is no matter what camera you use in such price range, they all shoot 29.97 fps. Unless you want to rent a speedcamera, like weisscam.

My guess is that an industrial camera might do the trick. Look into the "alternative imaging" forums. Some guys there are tinkering with HD industrial cameras that might interface with a laptop to record high-speed footage.

You might be able to find a used JVC HD-1 in your price range, which will shoot progressive 480p at 60 fps.

Progressive scan is better than interlaced b/c an interlaced image is composed of two scans taken a 60th of second apart. For fast moving subjects, the subject has moved during that fraction of a second. Maximum frame rate. But stated interlaced frame rates have to be divided by two b/c an interlaced image is composed from two scans. Maximum shutter speed. |
You can also look for an used JVC GR-DVL9800. This consumer camera has High Speed Recording. The University of Human Motricity here in Portugal uses them.
