iPad 2as a video monitor?
The iPad2 will be released in a few days. Has anyone heard anything about the feasibility of using it as a video monitor?

Re: iPad 2as a video monitor?
I strongly suspect the same situation that exists with the original version will continue with the new one. Although they have released an HDMI connector, it for HDMI out, not in. I know there have been a number of people trying since the first version was released to hack it but so far, no luck that I've heard

Re: iPad 2as a video monitor?
As always, it depends on how you define "Monitor."
If you mean "a device used for watching video" then if you can get your signal on the iPad you're good to go. IF, on the other hand, you define MONITOR as "a device used for critical evaluation of picture information" then NO, the iPad will never be an acceptable monitor by that definition. Both are accurate and useful. But they are NOT the same. |
Re: iPad 2as a video monitor?
I personally wouldn't use a tablet as a monitor...but if you are deciding to go that route, check out the Playbook from RIM.
Playbook hits the stores April 10th, much better specs than the iPad 2. |
Re: iPad 2as a video monitor?
I'm not sure how you'd get video *into* an iPad... the optional HDMI connector is output only.

Re: iPad 2as a video monitor?
Playback via Wifi encoded signal for rushes, on set review, etc with a slight delay - yes, as the first iPad can do that with the right kit attached to the Camera.
But not as an external monitor while shooting. |
