Procoder and h.264, do they work together
Where can I find a useable version of the new h.264 codec. I want to try it out to see what type of quality versus space savings are possible. Also, does this particular codec work with a program like procoder or cleaner xl?
Thanks |
In theory it should if it is a codec for QuickTime or another format
procoder/cleaner support. I believe they just work with the codecs available for the format. But ofcourse, there is no garantuee as usual, until someone tries. |
Rob, I am trying to get the highest quality/low bit rate codec I can find. I am told that the new H.264 mp4 standard is just that, but I want to try it out to see how it stacks up against divx, regular avi and the like. I am still fairly new to fiddling around with codecs, but I have seen whole movies fit on a cd with quality almost as good as a dvd movie, so I know it is possible. Any advice in this area from you or others is greatly appreciated.

Personally I would stick with what is generally used now. Yes,
there may be a better codec out there but it isn't generally accepted yet. Therefore not many people have it (installed) or know where to get it. I don't even know if you can get it free (playback). Xvid and Divx, windows media 9 and general mpeg4 (also in QuickTime) seem to be the best and most supported formats around these days. |
