Broadcast Camera Shoulder Strap (Studs)

I have a JVC GY-DV500 and Im looking for a shoulder strap. I've contacted JVC in the past about this, but they couldnt direct me to where to get the screw studs for a strap. The camera has two mounting places for the studs on the handle. Can anyone confirm that the screw in pieces from sony or panasonic broadcast cameras will also work for the DV500? If that is the case, any ideas on where I could get the screws (studs)??

Thanks!

they should all be the same. I took mine from my JVC500 and put them on my Sony DSR series camera. If you need them B&H has them in a package of 4 IIRC.

Fullsized camera means 'ya gotta have a shoulder strap' ;-)

Just get a strap that clips off when you need to spend an entire day on sticks. As much as I love a well padded PortaBrace strap when I'm "running and gunning", the darned thing gets in the way when I'm shooting archival photos all day or doing studio style work.

Guys, thanks for your responses... Yes, being easily removable is a great thing. I had never seen the need for a strap in the past, as on most shoots, I would just carry the camera in and out of the shoot in the case - no need for an individual camera strap. Now I'm starting to do more more run and gun stuff like news... I'll tell ya, the other night my hands were so cold from being outside with no gloves, I was afraid I would drop the camera as I was walking to and from the scene of a fire.

I still cant seem to find a place that is selling these posts for the camera though. B&H doesnt seem to have them, in all the searching I've done there... and I checked the Sony website, they dont seem to have them listed there either. I dont understand why the JVC's didn't come with them.

Anybody know where I can get these screws to mount a strap? Sill not having any luck...

Call B&H and ask for 'CamC studs'. I'm sure they still have them but didn't have time to look thru the website.

When looking for a strap, check out Kata. Their rubber moulded strap won't slip off your shoulder almost no matter what you do. Retired my PortaBrace one about 17 seconds after trying the Kata one.

here's the one I have. Bought it after trying their padded version as well.

Further to what Dylan says, if that strap is HALF as comfortable as the strap on my KATA camera bag (my bag weighs over 20 lbs loaded), it's a no-brainer.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I am looking for some help.

Just got some information from a Sony rep. Here are the different "studs" that they offer:

X37443071 $31.91 each is threaded , compatible to DSR300/370/390/500 ,

X36785671 $39.09 each is threaded , compatible to DNV5 , DVW700

X37100371 $22.26 each no stock so can't tell if it's threaded , compatible to BVPT7 ,BVP50 , BVV5 , HDC1400/1500

Can anyone confirm for me that any of these would fit a JVC DV500? I never thought it would be this hard to get a strap considering the camera has the holes to mount one. I'd appreciate anyone's input!
