Which cheap capture card?
Hey all :)
I've been thinking about getting a cheap capture card for my old Canon Hi8 camcorder. I've seen one called InnoDV MediaCombo III, but I can't seem to find a whole lot of info on it. I need to capture analog from the Canon and possibly DV at a later date, and this card seems to do both. Does anyone know about it, or an alternative? I'd like to keep it under a 100 bucks. :) |

Oh yeah, I guess that'd work, hadn't really thought of that. Mainly because the last time I captured through a video card it could only handle small clips and framerates. But that was quite a few years back, so it might have changed now. :)

If the only thing you need to do is capture your old Hi8 tapes, you might be better off buying a used D8 camcorder; you can find one on eBay for less than $200 and the quality will be as high as it can be, guaranteed. Plus you won't have to worry about audio/video sync, lack of timecode, and you could do batch capture in case you don't need the whole video...
