If you can get someone to fromat it and then "ghost" (symantec) it, once all the drivers are installed. I have my PC backed up to a DVD-R and if it starts to get screwy, I just back up new files onto a DVD RW and then load the Ghosted DVD-r back on, and in about 30 mins or less well be up n running like new.

All of the updates are also available as separate installations if you look hard enough on Microsoft's website. However, there's not much need to update a non-connected computer unless the update adds a particular feature you need.

As for Vegas updates, just download the current version and burn it to a CD.
