The old age question .. what system to get
 

I am looking for a NLE system in the 1500.00 price range or less .. this is not includign the computer of course

I see the options are dvstorm 2 with premier pro, dvstorm 2 with edius, vegas and the matrox.x10 ? solution .. any others ?

what woudl those of you who are familiar with these systems recomend .. this is for DVCAM editing and soem 3D work

A good question is do you really need one of the real time capture cards?
Unless you are doing multiple layers of effects, a fast system and Premiere or Vegas will work fine with a $30 firewire card.
What type of work/projects will you be doing? We'll need more detail than just 3D and DVCAM.

I will be doing a range of projects, from weekend weddings to news reports, and an occasional special small documentary for the tv station I work for.

I would prefer the real time capture cards and analog video output of the hardware based systems, since some times I need to output to betacam.
