Tape stock and switching advice question
I've been using Sony tapes since I got my Xm2 and have run about 10 of them through the camera. Now they seem to work fine, but most people who post about tape stuff either use Fuji, or Panasonic. I was wondering if that's just a habit or if anyone has quantifiable reasons for using that brand. I have noticed that the few pros I've seen, seem to use Fuji here. Should've asked them why.
Also,if I switched now, would I suffer the problems you get with tape stock switches, given that I've only run about 20 hours through the cam. Cheers Aaron |
Aaron,
There's absolutely no reason to switch from the Sony tape if you like it. It's at least as good as any of the other premium brands like Panasonic. According to at least one other member, it's even more resistent to mold in humid climates <g>. I'm a Panasonic user but I'd have no apprehension about using Sony. Just use the best grade you can get. |
Yes, I agree. If those Sony tapes are working fine for you, don't switch.
If you do switch, the heads should be cleaned. |
