Video Walkman Remote?
I was thinking of getting a Sony GVD-1000 Mini DV VCR Video Walkman for presentations, and I had a question about remotes. It looks like it can use a remote, but I’m not sure which one. What I’m looking for is the ability to play stop and pause a tape remotely. Can this be done with the video Walkman?

Best way to take video on the road is a portable dvd player. Speakers are built in and you have the option to go out to a projector. Most also ship with a remoye control for all functions.
When you are finished, you can leave a copy of the presentation with the client on dvd. Price is right also.... ...and most are battery or 110volt powered... |
Unfortunately, the video is mostly shoulder-held. It involves the filming of Crisis and disaster training drills. I would like to go with DVD, but the only DVD cameras that I have been able to find are the cheep consumer ones, or the expensive Dockable systems.

Oops ... I see you are looking to capture as well as play back ... and yes stay clear of any camera that records directly to dvd...

I have the GV-D1000, and it comes with a remote. It will do everything you want and then some.

With a GV-D1000 or any other model in this series, use a remote controler from most any Sony camcorder or full-sized VCR. I often use the controller from my 16-year old ED-Beta VCR with my
GV-D1000 and GV-D600, as it has the most complete feature-set and a good jog/shuttle wheel. Some VCR controlers have 3 remote channels and #2 is the one that runs my mini-VCRs. The controler from my VX2100 is best for portable use, as it fits neatly in a pocket and has full control of Memory Stick and time and data code functions. I didn't find a remote controler in my GV-D1000 box. Should I have gotten one? The GV-D1000 takes the smaller NP-FM battery series, while the older GV-D models use the larger NP-F series. I was pleased to find that the NP-FM70 battery from a defunct older camcorder, fit my GV-D1000 and can be recharged when inside it. |
