what's the use of the chip inside of the blank mini DV?
 

i didn't see it in any of the FAQ or links. if there are i must've overlooked it. pls link me thx.

See this thread from a while ago.

Basically it allows the camera to store extra information. But
almost every con-/prosumer camera out there does not work
with it. So usually it's better to spend your money on other
things.
