.7x Wide-Angle Converter from 16x9 for HM100 - Anyone used?
Here is a link to a .7x wide-angle converter made by 16x9 that is for the HM100.
16x9 Inc. | EX 0.7X WIDE CONVERTER f/JVC HM-100 | 169-HD7X-HM100 Has anyone tried this? It appears this may be the same one that is sold for the Sony HVR-V1U & HDR-FX7, but I don't know. Note: Century will have one or two adapters/converters (not sure which) within a couple of weeks for the HM100. The Century ones are units in stock that are being setup to mount on the HM100. The possible sizes are .55x and .65x I think, but I'm not sure. |
They are surely asking a pretty penny... I have the JVC adapter but didnīt have time to put it through the paces yet.

Very interested if Century are making a .55x I would probably go for that - one can never get too wide ;-) Cotty |
There is a ton of 46mm wide angle lens converters on the market for still cameras (like Panasonic DMW-LW46, which costs something like $126. Don't spend your hard earned cash on hype.

In fact I had a couple Nikon WC-E68's that I had for some CoolPix digital cameras and they have a 46mm thread and the glass is pretty nice. I'm going to test it out. For now I'm going to hold off on investing in a wide converter until I test some of the less expensive options.

Does it work through the entire zoom range? How are the coatings on this converter? |

I haven't had a chance to really test it at all, so I can't attest to the image quality. Initial results are that it does zoom through fine. I don't know about the multi-coatings, etc on it. It's a pretty inexpensive lens, even when new, but it got great reviews as a good buy when it came out for the Coolpix series. I've used it on my Coolpix 5400 for timelapse photography extensively. I'll get back here with some results when I have them. |
Keith, did you have a chance to test the lens yet?

16x9 zoom through??
Is the 16x9 .7X wide a zoom through?
|
I just noticed this on B&H for $215.

Adorama sells it for $189...

Wide angle lens comparison
I need to buy a wide angle lens converters for my HM100. Could someone explain to me the difference between the 16x9 Inc. 169-HD7X-HM100 0.7 Wide Angle Converter Lens 16x9 Inc. | 169-HD7X-HM100 0.7 Wide Angle | 169-HD7X-HM100 | B&H and the GL-V0746U Wide Conversion Lens?
B&H Kit Info Also has Century already come out with a new adapters/converters for the HM100? |
The difference I see between 16x9 and JVC converters is 16x9 has a front lens thread. This will allow you to attache filters and a light matte box without a need for rails.
I bought Nikon WC-E68 for $35 and $8 rubber lens hood, rigged lens good onto the converter and call it good. I think Nikon has superior glass to jvc or 16x9 anyway. |
Nikon thread size
I couldn't find anywhere what the thread size is for the 'front' of the Nikon .7 adapter. I'd like to add a lens hood, but not sure what the thread size is.
But I've been using it, and it's been working great. Zoom feels a tad soft at the fully zoomed out end of the travel, but seems sharp otherwise, and no vignetting that I'm seeing on full wide. I got mine on eBay for $45 shipped, certainly a much better deal than the $200 JCV one! Tim |
