Tim there is no front end tread on Nikon WC-E68, hence the need to rig something up. I bought a 68 mm rubber hood and just glued it to the outside of the converter.
Most of these converters have glass element sticking forward, so you can't place even a bayonet filter on the front.
The most ridiculous thing is that if you charge 200 or 300 bucks I would supply a lens hood (which btw you can manufacture for pennies) with the converter lens.

Has anyone tried this?

I just got mine. My only complaint is that it is a little too heavy for me. (19.4 oz)
The front end of the camera dips downward because of the weight. This shouldn't be a problem if it is on a tripod but hand held is another story. Does anyone know if the GL-V0746U Wide Conversion Lens from JVC is any lighter?

I'm glad you mentioned that as I was wondering about that. I've had problems with lens breaking the threads under duress.

What to do? I need a wide angel lens that takes filters that isn't too heavy......

Kajito Nagib August 10th, 2009 04:26 PM

I returned the 16X9 wide converter it was just too heavy for me. I placed an order for the JVC wide angle lens with B&H 3 weeks ago still waiting. Hopefully it will be lighter.

Wide angle

Is 16/9 Inc wide angle better than JVC wide angle ?

As anything tested it ?

John McDonald August 19th, 2009 09:27 AM

Wide angle filters?

I have one on order and now need to get some (82mm?) filters for it - can anybody suggest good brands? I will mostly be filming outdoors in difficult conditions.

Hoya and B+W do slim line filters I believe for wide angles lens I blieve?

Roger Baudet August 20th, 2009 12:23 PM

Yes, I am now the 16/9 Inc wide angle.
Its very very very heavy.
But its very very very good !
I am very happy to have it !

Brandon Puet August 21st, 2009 09:06 PM

Kajito, did you get your JVC lens? They seem to be backordered everywhere

For a zoom through 0.7 convertor? That's about half what I'd expect to pay. USD379 is a really good price - if the optics are up to it. But as has been noted many times on this board, in optics, the price/quality graph is a straight line one.

Roger Baudet August 25th, 2009 09:29 AM

I have now receive the 16/9 Inc 07x for HM100.

Its a very good optic but a little heavy.

3 pictures herre : the difference of colour is just cause by the sun

Roger, is that a 16x9 brand hood? Would you be able to let me know the part number/where to order etc?

Many thanks!

Matthias Krause August 27th, 2009 07:10 AM

Roger, how do you handle the big fat shadow you get from your dead cat?
