Independent western made with HD100
Here is the link at DigitalCinema, named 'Six Gun'

Interesting, especially as a historical subject matter. I remember the director of 28 Day Later saying he thought digital probably wasnt good for historical subjects(but this was ages ago in the technology).

"Perry also chose the GY-HD100U because the camera has simultaneous HD and SD outputs..."
What? Very interesting news though. |
Lets also hope they post a trailer... I love westerns...
Hopefully its not in the vain of Wild Wild West. The TV Show not the movie... a friend and I still disagree about it being a western... :-) |

Yeah, I agree with that. Anytime the History channel has re-enactments shot on video, I turn it - it just doesn't do it justice. Oddly enough, the older the subject matter, the more I feel this way. Even the newer cameras produce this feeling. Very subjective, for sure, but I do think he's right - john evilgeniusentertainment.com |

I just saw flyboys in the theater. It's digital (Panavision Genesis HD Camera) and it looked great to me. Shallow DOF and color treatment gave it the feel. I just shot a night club style concert with 2 HD-100's and we were pretty thrilled with the results. It has a very organic feel to it that seems much more 16mm-ish than video. The background being mostly black removed the problem of deep DOF killing the vibe. I think RED will just continue the march toward's Film's days. |
