Is this a dead pixel?

We've noticed a single RED pixel left of center on all of our most recent footage. I've searched the forum regarding the masking procedure and understand how to do it but, before I do it I'd like to know if it is indeed considered a dead pixel as most of the other threads on this subject refer their dead pixels as white or sometimes green.

Thanks, so much!

Over 60 views and not one comment? Anyone else noticed a red pixel instead of white or green?

Mark Silva August 17th, 2006 10:57 AM

no.

but if its definitely on your footage I can't see how it would be anything else.

Craig. Upload a frame grab and someone will give you an answer.

Here is a cropped .bmp to save on bandwith. This red pixel is on everything we shoot. Obiviously more prominent on darker scenes.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Sorry, wasn't sure if image tags could be used. Attached it the file.

mask that bad boy

Try the pixel masking function and you'll know for sure (the procedure is on this forum)...

As long as you're not doing too often, there should be no problem. This camera does seem a bit more likely to suffer from this problem, but the fix is easy and, if not overdone, should give you no long term problems.

Thanks all! Printed out the pixel masking routine yesterday and will give it a shot first thing friday. I will say that this forum is great and despite this pixel issue our camera continues to amaze us.

Thanks again.
