New HD100 Video
I just finished producing this for a non-profit in Maryland.
It was shown at the 2008 Washington International Horse Show. Why Ride? on Vimeo Daniel Weber |
Hi Daniel
Very good material, both the video (nice images) and the non-profit organization work that your wife works/volunteers for. Ron |

http://www.beardigital.tv/en/SkiingC...rationClip.wmv This is my poison, (I specialize in shooting on skis) in fact it's two short clips from a documentary I shot this in Colorado, the end sequence was kind of fun to do, excuse the awful puns! A thought which may help Daniel, is that you can afford to back off with your reflector - I think you may have been using a foil faced "Lastolite" or similar, the trick is to pinpoint your actual source of light, in this case the sun, and only gently fill from the opposing side. So in this case where the sun is high and behind the subject it would be natural to keep the camera left (her right) or "on camera" cheek darker than the "off camera" cheek. so you could have used a more diffused bounce and further off. This would look good, help you avoid reflections in glasses and, very importantly, make it much easier for your interviewees. Just a thought, great shots and story though. |
I must apologize, the link above is to a video clip that I could have shot on a 200 series camera - wish that I had if you like. In fact I shot it on a Sony BVW 700 with a front end wide angle and a 9 Amp PAG battery on the back, I guess the weight of that alone was what kept me on the surface really! How I wish we'd had these GY-HD 200 series cameras then. Maybe I wouldn't have become the "Hunch Front of Notre Dame".

Death bet (formerly worktitled "the cage").
You may have recalled my previous posts on a local indie, then worktitled "The Cage", created on the JVC-GY-HD100 camera system.
The batteries at the time were a serial pest, running down very quickly and a roundrobin cycle of quick charging ensued. Other than that issue which was later solved with v-mount batteries, the camera was reliable with no down time at all. The DVD version has found a home on Netflix as "Death Bet". The feature was shot direct-to-camera. Some of the "behind-the-scenes" footage was shot on a Sony HVR-Z1P with an early version home-made AGUS35 35mm adaptor. How much of the adaptor footage was used in the featurette if any I don't know. The revised trailer can be seen on YouTube at this web address :- YouTube - Death Bet |

Nice one Chris!

Drew: Beautifully shot, great filter use, judicious use of cants and speed ramping. Even like what you managed to pull out of Garage Band. One niggle though: the voice over sounds TERRIBLY thin. A nice looking piece.
