All HD100 users, plz share your settings

Since many of you already own a HD100 I though we could share image settings here. I´ll recieve mine tomorrow and will dive right into the menus as soon as the batteries are charged. I wonder how we can share settings by uploading the SD-card info...does anyone know?

Do you like your image settings? Plz share them here...!

I haven't tried this, but surely you could put the SD card into a computer card reader and copy the data off, then e-mail it to someone else, right?

The one thing that I have done...and it has worked great.

Dial the image sharpness down to at least -4. I have been great film-esk shots. I have some wonderful sunsets and stuff from living in Florida.

I guess I will find out tomorrow, but what you say should work. Maybe we can upload .zip files of our settings and share them here. It would be cool to have the same settings in two parts of the world and then upload the footage!

This is closely related to what I was asking in this thread:

http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=51945

If anybody has files to share, I'll be happy to host them here for you.

I've already posted some of my recipes in various other threads for wide dynamic range/latitude and low-light sensitivity on 0dB. I'll search around and post them here.

I agree that reducing the sharpness setting is a good way to go.

Also I use the black compress feature. I am sure this is obvious to all (and its not a setting as such) but using ND filter outside is also a good idea so that you are shooting around F4.

I forgot to mention that when I suggest an AVERAGE light reading of F4 to F5.6 to prevent SSE -- I'm simultaneously saying exactly what you said -- for the highest image quality you do NOT want to stop all the way down (F11 to F16) nor open the iris to F2 to F2.8.

There is a sweet spot (area) from about F4 to F8. We don't know exactly where, but F5.6 +/- 1 is a good guess.

You'll want to add light to get up to at least F4 and ND filters to keep the stop no higher than F8.

I just got my camera...what a beauty. The batteries are charging. Thanks for all the replies so far...keep them coming!

Tim, I remember having seen your settings somewhere as well, it would be cool to have them posted under one thread so that it would be easy to locate them!

BB l8ter!

I went out shooting for the first time. I really loved the camera. I used only preset settings today as there was no time to play with the color matrix. I was very happy with the footage. I CC them in After FX, here are three .jpgs of todays shooting: http://s47.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1...70USZL5NH1S607 !

Looking forward to dive in the menus tomorrow!

Thanks Chris. I knew there was another thread somewhere that I promised settings to!

This forum moves so fast (considering multiple threads about SSE) that I sometimes lose valuable info in the shuffle. Would you mind making this one a sticky so as many people as possible can get this info?
Also, is it possible to turn on image tags for that thread?

thanks Chris,
Tim

Thread stuck, per Tim... typically we don't do inline attachments, in order to keep the page loads as fast as possible, but we do have our Gallery (link in nav bar at top of page). I'll give you permissions for that.
