ENG-style light recommendations?
 

Can anyone recommend an affordable ENG-style (wedding-style) light I can buy? Affordable is the key word here. :-)

How about one of the Sony 10W/20W hot shoe lights that is powered by (its own) Sony camcorder battery on the back. Then what you do is use the LumiQuest Mini Soft Box ($20) over the light to soften and disperse it. I believe the LumiQuest has some sort of adhesive tape on it. Some guys only use the 10W
when not using a box but you'll maybe need the 20W as the
box'll cut down the light just a bit.
If you go this route, let us know how it worked out.

But how would I power it? It's for Sony, I thought...Hmm, I'll investigate.

That light uses its own onboard battery, the Sony NPF-960 series. So it has its own power. If you chose that solution, you'd need the light, at least one battery, and some sort of charger.

How about rebuilding those LED flashlights? Nice cool bright light.

There are flashlights for $20 that have about 5 LEDs and others at $50 that have about 12 LEDs.

I would pull the LED heads off and use a few of the heads with diffusers. Then place the batteries in a pack.

Color temp?

Adjustable intensity?Others are working on this.

Hmmm...I may not be technically wise enough to do that, but I'll talk to a friend of mine who is!
