HDV Aquisition ??Post?? for Digibeta delivery
 

First of all please excuse my complete lack of post production, codecs, bit rates and all things related.

My girlfriend is producing a doco for broadcast. Final delivery is PAL Digibeta. We are thinking of putting the camera rental fee and crew (me) in the budget toward a HDV (probably the canon XL-H1). Post production will probably be FCP.

Q: WHAT COULD WE LOSE/GAIN BY AQUIRING, POST PRODUCING HDV FOR STANDARD DEF DELIVERY??

If there is any significant loss by going this path we'll just rent a digibeta camera, the cost of renting a deck not going to figure to much in the post budget.
