Post HD Stablization

We shot a band the other evening and I have one camera fixed on sticks for the safety wide shot, the problem is the venue was old and had all wooden plank flooring so with every bass note and kick drum hit I got a vibration the camera/video throughout the whole hour of footage.

Any decent recomendation on the most effective post correction software solution.

I had a friend try and run it through Mercalli's without much success, any recomendations would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

VirtualDub + deshaker plugin

And don't be confused by it's freeware nature.

Thanks, great I will check it out, is it pretty straight forward in the use and implementation?

It's not way to difficult to figure out, but it can be very slow. A high power CPU is your friend.

"it works great." Obviously not for the OP.

To get good results from Mercalli, you need to select the appropriate preset - it is by no means always the obvious one!

If you are using Prmiere, you need to be careful to ensure that Mercalli uses the correct field order. With Premiere CS4, you need to be using CS4.1, and the latest Mercalli update for good results

Thanks for all the feedback it's appreciated

You can do a lot more with SynthEyes SynthEyes Camera Tracker - Andersson Technologies LLC than Mercalli. You can dial in or out the frequency of vibration.

If the vibration is causing motion blur from a slow shutter speed then you are in trouble.

Mercalli with the right preset works pretty good though.

Cheers Ian
