re: Helping Hands from 2014
Guys,
I agree with the comments that this post turned into. But on the more positive side of things I want to state that I had good luck finding competent help here in the past. They were far from being pro-bono jobs. I pay well and expect a professional ROI. It was quite a while ago but my results were good. About eight years ago I hired a former wrangler to assist me on a gig in his area. I liked him so much I booked him for work in five other states, including Hawaii. He has since fallen off the map. Does anyone remember John Locke? A few years ago I found a crew in Green Bay to shoot a gig at Lambeau Field that I directed. The crew members (two camera ops & one audio guy, with their gear) were a referral from a post I made here. That video can be seen here www.facebook.com/corporateshow it is the video named Transitions, After the Game. If you go there you will see that my face book page is currently all stuff I have put there in the last month, in development and fragmented. Why am I just starting to jump on the social media band wagon. Because after more than twenty five years in business I now need to. All of my previous work came word of mouth and my fees did not used to be a major consideration. The world has changed. Even in the corporate market where my clients are….money matters. I am actively seeking new clients when three years ago I had all the work I could handle. My point is, if you need a crew, there are many credible people here at DVINFO. The guys that are asking for people to work for food probably don’t know what the term craft services is. We are all here and it is a diverse community. So don’t let the “perks” type of posts discourage you from looking for help here, it has worked for me. I am saying more than I should on a public forum, but hey, I have never pretended to be something I’m not. I am hesitant about even posting the link to my face book page. Please be kind, I am working on it. Steve |
Re: Elite video ninjas needed for music and gaming festival ...
Does anyone else on this forum think it's time to change the policies here to keep the Craigslist ads on Craiglist where they belong?
|
Re: Elite video ninjas needed for music and gaming festival ...
I think it sends a strong message when no one responds on the forum and they quickly drift down the list into obscurity.
There is always the option to report the post to Chris with a description of why you think it doesn't belong. |

Los Angeles Videographer needed Jan 20 and 21
I'm looking for L.A.-based videographer to film a rally on January 20th and film interviews and B-Roll on January 21st. Ideally, they would own their own camera - Sony XDCAM EX or Canon C100. It will be a one-man band operation so they need to be competent with audio and have lav or shotgun for interviews. A single key-light may be necessary for interviews.
I'm still looking for a go to L.A. videographer. You could be it! Send me rates and links to web portfolios. |

interesting place for cameraman to register
This looks like an interesting site to register on if you're a cameraman:
Sparky Directory I believe it's just been launched today. Worth going on I'd say. Mark |
Seattle - Corporate shoot 2/10 or 2/11
Anyone in Seattle? I have a lead for an easy "interview" shoot in Seattle. Needs to be done and edited before 2/13. If anyone is interested, I can put you in touch with the client. I got the job through a freelance site...the only problem is that I am in NY (DOH!). The client seems like a nice guy, so I figured I'd reach out and see if anyone here is interested.

Canadian Fireworks Safety PSA ...
Hey Everyone,
I'm in the early stages of pre-production for a series of videos featuring fireworks safety in Canada. I'm currently looking to get some reels and rates for the following crew: Cinematographer Audio Engineer Gaffer Hair/Makeup Equipment should come with the crew members. It's a smaller non-profit production, so I'm looking more fore DSLR class gear/crew, not Arri Alexia class gear/crew. We're also going to need a spokesperson and a few actors, anywhere from 3 to 6, depicting families with children. We'll know more as the script and storyboards solidify. Any recommendations on reputable talent agencies in the Vancouver/Abbotsford, BC area would be appreciated. Crew/talent in Northern Washington state is eligible as well, as long as you have a passport to get across the border. The production will be shot in Abbotsford, BC ... likely in May and will probably last 2 days. If this sounds like a good fit for you, post back here or PM me with your reel/samples and rates. Thanks! |
Re: Canadian Fireworks Safety PSA ...
I'm not a dSLR guy but I am a Sony XDCam shooter primarily (own a Sony PMW200 that I'm VERY happy with when shooting 50mbps) with connections.
15 years in broadcast AND workplace safety and health video production. If that's more your speed/style, email me and we can chat more. roaddogmedia (at) gmail (dot) com Abbotsford is a 1 hour drive from Vancouver MOST days, by the way... |
Vancouver Aug 30, 2014 Wedding
Hi! I'm getting married in Burnaby B.C. Canada. I can't cover the wedding myself. I don't have a budget to hire a full production. All my contacts live in USA and would have difficulty working in Canada.
I'm looking for one or two free-lance shooters in Vancouver who can work together and who have some experience shooting a Catholic wedding. The deliverable would be raw video footage and sound. Equipment needed would be video camera with wireless sound and/or suitable field recorder. Please send PM if you are available and interested. |
Re: Vancouver Aug 30, 2014 Wedding
With all the people running to Reno to get married, I WONDERED where folks from Reno went!
Dylan Couper, a moderator here on DVInfo, runs a rental shop that a LOT of the wedding guys go to for gear. He will likely tell you who is good and who to avoid. Be aware: almost everyone in the Greater Vancouver area is a dSLR shooter, for better or for worse depending on what you are looking for. |

Call me at 228-990-0572 or message me on this forum if you are interested and available. Thank you.

Washington, DC - Cinematographer seeking to assist documentary-in-progress
Looking for help with your film?
Me: DC filmmaker/cinematographer/writer/composer looking to help out with your doc. I've made some short films (two of them good!) on which I did everything, but now I am looking to work on a local film project to build my skills, etc. I'm not a beginner, but I'm definitely not a pro-level cinematographer. Interested? You can find my most recent film here: HOAX Cinema Projects Thanks! |
Frederick, Md. Ice Skating Show 4/13/14
I am unable to shoot this for a long-time customer. You can see samples of what I have done in the past at Chip Gallo on Vimeo
A single camera will do but we often use two for this type of event. The client provides CD music discs which should be synced to the camera audio in post. There are announcements and a presentation on the ice which should be miked (wireless) and matched to the video. I capture the audience applause on a small digital audio recorder and sync it to the skating in post. The show typically takes about 1.5 hours with 25-35 skaters mostly skating singly. The venue is in Frederick, Md. The deliverable is DVD (separate chapters for each skater; no main menu) and it is preferred that you reproduce up to 40 copies. Let me know your terms, experience level and equipment via PM on this board. I will pass on the best bids to the customer. After that she will contact you directly. Thanks, Chip |

DFW, TX Assistant needed for horse training clinic - May 1-4, 2014
I am putting this out there to see if I can find the right person. I have an intern but she's not going to be available for this. I can do it myself but really don't want to.
The job is a four day horse training clinic with one of Spain's premiere trainers. We will be on site 9-10 hours per day and will be shooting 7-8 of those. It is a one camera, stationary shoot with lots of panning and zooming. I will set up and break down all equipment. You need to have good eye-hand coordination and the ability to listen while shooting. Good bladder control is also a must because each session is 45-55 minutes and there are no cuts. You would basically alternate with me throughout the day in 45-minute sessions. When not shooting you can rest, move around and perform some minor backup tasks on the computer. Oh, and you can watch some really talented horses being trained by one of the best. Location is Pilot Point, TX. Shooting starts at 7:00am. Lunch will be provided on-site. Pay is $100/day cash. I'm laid back, retired military but, have a low tolerance for BS. If you need pampering, this is not for you. This could definitely lead to additional work if we get along. Send me an email through my profile page if interested and we'll talk. |
Need a second shooter for a L.I. wedding - June 29th, 2014
Hi!
I have a need for a second shooter on Long Island on June 29th. You would need a 5DM3 or a C100 (or better) for the low light issues inherent with weddings. Also, tripod(s), monopod, slider, whatever else you have. If you're interested or have any questions please let me know at mh13904@yahoo.com with a list of your equipment, experience/samples, and expected pay for the day. Thanks! - Mike |
Looking for international contacts and experience
Hi,
I am a 40yo british/italian film-maker. I shoot, edit, direct, and produce (sometimes altogether, some times just one of these!). Was also CEO of a small company for few years. Worked in TV for 3. My portfolio is on Marcello Mazzilli on Vimeo. Worked for big italian brands, national TV networks, doing tv ads, corporate, documentaries, short films, live events. I own a Blackmagic Production Camera 4k and other equipment for indie production, and I invented my own live events kit with a 6x inputs full digital hd camera switch based on Blackmagic that fits into a small valise. I would like to work on some international project, either helping an overseas company here in Europe, or.. even better... travelling to other countries (US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand). CV available upon request. Thanks for reading, M |

Help Editing Weddings
I'm starting to look into getting some help with editing weddings. I work a full time production job and do weddings on the weekends, so it can be really hard to find time to edit at home and really easy to get WAY behind. I edit a music video style 'Wedding Day Video' and the ceremony. Also the occasional Reception video if they pay for it. Also, a dvd menu and DVD artwork. If you think you might be interested in helping out, just email me at coleprine@gmail.com
You can see some of my work at Cole Prine Weddings on Vimeo Thanks! |

FT multimedia job - video/mograph/photog
Hi all -
I am hiring a FT Multimedia Professional for a Texas based company and wanted to see if anyone could point me in the direction of a job forum/bank etc where I could post it to target more specifically than just throwing it on Indeed and getting the whole gamut of candidate (e.g people who have made some slideshows or have taken pictures for friends) . I know there are websites that specialize in these things (church jobs or HR jobs) but wasn't sure if there was something similar to that for editing/media and what not. I'm not trying to spam the forum, as it looks like most of these listings are for freelance things. But this is a FT job, at a great company with competitive wage and benefits. It WOULD require re-lo. If someone here' is interested, feel free to DM me for more details. If not, pointing me in the direction of a central job bank would be most helpful. Thanks! |
Re: FT multimedia job - video/mograph/photog
Hi Steve.
I hardly consider a full time job offer "spam"! Both our Lord Emperor Chris Hurd and one of his Knights at Arms Greg Boston are Texans who might know a perfect candidate for you if the forum search doesn't turn up one. Good luck and good (head)hunting! |
Re: FT multimedia job - video/mograph/photog
Steve,
I agree with Shaun but I'm also including some websites that I think are still around and might be helpful. Mandy's Film and TV Production Directory ProductionHUB.com Video Production Services | Crews Control Media Watch | Improving the image of gender and race in the media Now I will say that I have never used these sites but I have looked at them once in a while over the years so I can't speak to their real usefulness but I guess it won't hurt to take a look at them and see if they might help you out. Hell, if I was 30 years younger and didn't have to relocate I might consider the job myself. ;-) Good luck. |
Re: FT multimedia job - video/mograph/photog
Thanks Shaun and Don!
I just meant spam in that it looks like most of the posts here are for second shooters, smaller one-offs, etc - I didn't know if people ever posted permanent positions on here. To be clear, it's not a production house or something that specializes in production. It's a large company (if you're in Texas or surrounding states, you HAVE heard of it :)) that has an opening in the communications department for a MM pro (photog, videog/editor, mograph). Thanks for the links, Don! I'll check them out! |

S.O.S.
If anyone has audio repair skills please contact me… this will be a paid project. |
Re: Need an Audio "Mechanic" ...
If the unwanted noise crashes the dialogue there's not a lot you can do to make it any more intelligible.
Having said that, spectral repair is possible if the frequencies can be isolated: But sounds to me like the fabric rub shares frequencies with the dialogue. |
