SEATTLE - DEC 15th -Volunteer or low cost shooter needed

I was asked by a friend to shoot the Seattle Mandolin Orchestra performance of Handel's Messiah on December 15th. This would probably be a pretty straightforward documentary one camera shoot with sound off the board. They might be willing to pay something for the effort, as they asked my rate, but I wasn't available that day. As I play mandolin and was a one time member of the orchestra, I assume they are looking low cost or friend of the band rates. I would likely shoot it with my C100 as it's an orchestra, and not likely looking for much in the way of close ups. You could shoot it with a decent high end consumer camera, like a Panny TM950. Main thing would be to have a solid A camera without monkeying around with zooming in. Just make sure you get the whole show from an establishing shot, with quality sound feed, if possible. Everything else would be gravy.

Might be a good opportunity for a student to get some Christmas money. Please contact me first to discuss your experience and gear. Thanks.

Al - Sounds interesting. I'd be willing to consider helping out. Unfortunately, my camera is not a good low-light performer but I've got a lot of other gear (mics, cables, lights, stands, tripods, etc.) that would be useful if you find someone who wants to be the primary shooter in charge.

Might support a B-roll camera? Pre and after performance video to supplement the main one? "Have monopod, will travel."

I'm too busy today to drop you a personal line but will try later.

re: Helping Hands from 2014

Well I think that sums it up George. You walked away from your business because of no-pay jobs only to turn around and offer a no-pay job to others. The media careers are a commodity right now. Expertise is not valued as high as other things like convenience.

As George stated, as long as we know that you can direct your business to an area that might support opportunity.

Al - "Give me a shout on Monday John. We can discuss."

I sent a "personal" email that I think will explain that no matter how loud I shout you won't be able to hear me so please check for your DVinfo email.
