Gino,

There's over a hundred scripts listed there right now, didn't you find ANYTHING that was of interest to you?

Require camera/and or hand: Any New Zealanders (Auckland area) around here?

Sorry for the longshot post but I know there are a few New Zealanders here with Canon cameras and I'm looking to hire one if I can. I have a seminar shoot this coming weekend and rather than get a Sony VX2000 PD150 etc (That's all everyone seems to have) I'd like to get an XM2 or Xl1s. The budget for this is very small but if anyone would be able to hire or loan their cam for a day, or even come shoot if you wanted to keep it under scrutiny could you email me. Email address in my profile.

If you live a little out of Auckland that's ok, I can come pick it up.

Cheers
Aaron

HD1/HD10 owner/operator willing to shoot wedding in July in Cincinnati OH?

I'm getting married on July 11th of this year and would love to have someone who has experience shooting and/or owns an HD1/HD10 to shoot my wedding for me.

It's a Sunday evening wedding at an outdoor park pavillion and I'd like to capture the entire ceremony and reception, roughly 4 hours or so.

I own an HD1 that could be used and would love to get footage from more than one angle with two cameras. If an owner knows of someone who can operate the other camera it would be great.

I'd also be willing to rent an HD10 and lighting for the day if anyone who has experience with the camera is willing to travel.

It would be a payed job, but I would imagine not to 'standards' for pay, trying to keep the wedding budget down. I would just need the raw footage and I can edit it and put it out to D-VHS and DVD.

If anyone is interested or can refer someone please contact me at tlambert@cinci.rr.com. We can talk travel, pay, expectations etc.

Thanks.

Troy

Mark Jervis March 12th, 2004 01:41 PM

I can't help you on the shoot as you are in Ohio and I am in Georgia but I just wanted to say congratulations and I know what you are going through. I am getting married myself on May 29th and own 2 HD-10s and I'm trying to find/train a operator for the cameras during the ceremony. Good luck.

Ed Hill March 13th, 2004 07:49 PM

Hi Mark and Troy,

Congratulations to both of you on getting married.

Mark I live in Atlanta and I may be able to help you. Please email me: ed@highlydef.com

I have been shooting 16mm film and Betacam since 1982.
I made the switch last year to DV.

My business partner Ben and I are doing pre-production on a biography drama for a rap performer here in Atlanta using the JVC HD 10. We will be buying one shortly and would like to try an HD10 for ourselves before committing the cash.

Any way, back to the wedding: I have a Steady tracker and tripod/ Miller head, Lowell Kit. I would be happy to help you if I can.

Best Regards,

Ed Hill

I can shoot, but only if travel and the hotel is covered. Of course, that may be out of the budget. But if I can help out, let me know. And, of course, congrats!

Rusty Williams March 18th, 2004 08:41 PM

Hey, Gino...

Actually, I wrote a short last year that was just a lark; kind of a rip on Valentine's Day shorts that were making the rounds.

Anyway, it's real low-budget to shoot, but I have no intentions of making it myself or otherwise using it.

It's called "Somewhere South Of Heaven" and if you want it, I'll give it to you. Just credit me as writer on any production.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll send it to you. All I ask is that you let me know if you plan on using it or not, and maybe a copy of the finished product.

My Microsoft Word screenplay template (.dot)

Some of you know I've been concentrating more on writing now. This spring I was a winner of a Canada-wide feature screenplay contest and am just finishing the workshopping phase and hopefully getting into the networking phase.

I thought I'd let loose one of my tools that I used which helped me in the development of my script. It's a Word template that is my substitute for going out and buying Final Draft or Movie Magic.

http://www.keithloh.com/writing/film...templates.html

How to install it and use it is explained on that page.

My writing is covered in another page linked to from that page.

Robert Knecht Schmidt March 19th, 2004 12:22 PM

Bang-up job, Keith!

John Lee March 19th, 2004 05:24 PM

I recently graduated out of College Park, and I've been working on some short no-budget type stuff since then. I tend to agree that this is not the Hollywood of the East, and it is very hard to find actors. However, it seems there is no lack of skilled technicians, writers, and people who just love to make film.

Hope I get the oppurtunity to meet some of you in the future...

Mark Argerake March 19th, 2004 08:49 PM

One person for all 4 days?

Doesn't that cut into the running around the show and playing with stuff time?

Rusty Williams March 20th, 2004 04:18 PM

Geez, there was a time when people would actually PAY me for screenplays... Now I can't GIVE one away! :-)

Gino Terribilini March 21st, 2004 01:37 AM

Hey, Rusty... sorry for the delay. I've been working on a project, but that's in another thread.

Anyway, i'd love to check out the screenplay.

You can email me at Gino@motuspictures.com and i'll let you know what i think and whether or not i plan to use it.

Thanks!

I've always wanted to make a Star Trek fan film. Not the usual type, but darker, better written and acted than the series. More like DS9 type stuff.

Oh well, had to get that off my chest, grin.

Philip Boyer March 22nd, 2004 06:41 PM

A modification some of you may want to make.

The Style for Following Paragraph setting controls the style assigned to a new paragraph when you press ENTER. For example, in Keith's template, the CHARACTER style identifies the speaker. It makes sense to set the Style for Following Paragraph to the DIALOGUE style because most of the time the lines of dialogue come under the character name. The SLUGLINE style would have ACTION as the following style.

To see the Style for Following Paragraph setting (I'm using Word in Office XP.), choose Styles and Formatting from the Format menu. In the list of styles that appears, put the mouse over the style you want to modify, click the down arrow and choose Modify.

Good job on the template, Keith, and thank you for sharing.

Dylan Couper March 22nd, 2004 06:47 PM

Mike, do you have a rate sheet for various quantities, boxes, lables?

If so, cna you mail it to me?

Thanks

In DC Looking for Hands

I am in Washington DC and I'm creating some short films and music videos. I write and direct, and can do all the rest of it but I strongly prefer working with others for lights, sound, even camera work. Anyone want to jump in?

I am shooting a short this coming Saturday, March 27 from 8-5 or so.

I am also putting together a 48 Hour Film Fest team for May 7-9.

I have a Canon Xl1 + all the light/sound/post equipment we need. It's all for fun right now... no salaries. Let me know if you are interested.

Also, if you are a filmmaker and just want to get together to talk shop and watch demos that's great too.

Thanks.

Barry

Keith Loh March 22nd, 2004 06:57 PM

Thanks Philip. I'm going to try this.

Matt Stahley March 22nd, 2004 07:02 PM

Mike I too would be interested in prices for DVD-R dupes. Hopefully in small runs. Thanks.

Danny Natovich March 23rd, 2004 01:25 PM

Not really.

Half of the time is at the stand and the other half you are free
to wonder around the show...with the rig.

DV Shooter in NY

I am looking for a Dv shooter that can help me out with a one day shoot in Plainview NY near Hicksville (no joke) on what I believe is Long Island?

The shoot will consist of an interview, a couple of recreations, and recording of voice over narration.

There is no pay for this, but you'd be helping me out in a big way!! I could perhaps be a part some exchange of services.

The ideal candidate must know what they are doing, have access to a car and DV camera with sound gear (either a lavaliere or shotgun mic)

Interested persons can send me an email at michaelds@(remove)digitalcrossing.ca

Thanks

Keith Loh March 25th, 2004 06:45 PM

.dot updated!

Philip, based upon your suggestions, I've improved the template .dot so that it does do the following paragraph thing. Thanks again for suggesting that.

Not to hijack the thread or anything but if you need someone in the midwest (WI) for CD/DVD duplication and authoring (short run under 50 discs) let me know. I don't screw people like most places do that do short runs. Normally around $3-$4 a disc (DVD) depending on printing and cases. http://www.jcmediaservices.com or you can e-mail me direct at Jason@jcmediaservices.com

Since its a free bee could you tell us more about the project--and yes you will be on Long Island--the world's largest parking lot.

Jun Galinato March 26th, 2004 06:32 PM

Hi Scott, I sent you an email

Rusty Williams March 26th, 2004 08:28 PM

Someone from the board here e-mailed me regarding this thread. This person wanted to know if Gino was using the script we discussed. - Being a bit brain-damaged, I somehow inadvertently deleted the e-mail before I could respond to it. Hopefully, this person will check this thread again...

Yes, Gino is using the script, but I would be more than happy to help you with a short of your own. If you see this, just drop me another e-mail, and I'll do whatever I can to help out.

Sorry for the screw-up.

Michael Dalton March 26th, 2004 10:55 PM

I think there is a park there, so it can't be all that bad.

The footage is for a promo that I am putting together for possible series, and I need to stick a few shots of my talent in the video to give a sense of what the show will be like.

April 4 shoot-DC area

We're looking for a pair of helping hands for an all-day short-film shoot in Reston on Sunday, April 4. It won't be glamorous (haul equipment, shuffle lights, hold boom), but it should be entertaining (great script, professional actors a proficient creative team and high production values). Interested?

Kris Holodak March 29th, 2004 11:54 AM

Hey Barry,

It's nice to see others in DC. I'm out of town the weekend of May 8th unfortunately since that could be a fun project. Happy to have someone to talk shop with though.

Drop me a note: kmholodak@kennedy-center.org

Shoot In Houston

I am doing a documentary as a labor of love will be in Houston sometime in the middle of May----I am looking for a sound person (equipped would be better) but if not I can supply a luge a system down from NYC. The shooting would consist of some interviews, some actions sequences of a wonderful performer and would entail some patch in work seeing that these performances have canned music. I can't afford to pay the going rate (in my neck of the woods its 700 bucks per day) for a pro sound guy but there would be pay and some other perks. Also looking for another shooter (Pd-150 or one of the Trv's would suffice. Again, its not a rate because this baby is being funded out of my and the producers pocket. If you would like to know more please contact me at zer@bellatlantic.net.
