Hey guys,

I have a shoot for the Fading Legacy documentary in late May in Washington DC. No solid dates and times right now, but I wanted to throw it out in case anyone was interested in helping out.

I won't be able to offer anyone anything in the way of monetary compensation, but credit can be exchanged and you can show off your shooting skills.

If you want more information, e-mail me and we'll talk privately.

In the meantime, try to stay warm up there. :)

nice... but the shots of the guy getting shot <no pun intended> look real over exposed. its fine for the POV through the guys goggles, but the others look out of place. did you originally plan to have all the shots of him from the goggles POV?

Joe Carney February 12th, 2004 04:14 PM

Hey Rob, accross the street from my home in Boca is a guy who was a combat engineer in Pattons 3rd Army. (I think thats what he said). Man does he have some horryfying stories about what happened, especially what the SS troopers did to people. I think he also has photos and memorabilia from that era.

He is also planning on attending the opening of the new WWII memorial when it happens (I think late summer, but not sure).

Really nice guy, lives alone since his wife died a few years ago.
Everyone in the neiborhood likes him and visit him when ever we can.

Rob Zeigler February 12th, 2004 04:41 PM

Joe,

Patton's 3rd are responsible for that incredibly fast Allied advance in northern France after D-Day. They went so far, so fast that Allied command told Patton to SLOW DOWN to let the rest of the Allies catch up. They must have seen some amazing, and horrifying things.

Check out the link to the doc to see what it's about. Basically I think that stories like the one your friend shares with you should never be lost, and the doc focuses on what's being done to ensure that.

We'll be there in late May for the dedication ceremonies as well. : )

The exposure and color temp were all done on purpose. Because I shot this with absolutely no money, I only had one costume for each of my actors. The guy getting hit with bullets is the same guy on the radio with the BVGs (ballistic vision goggles). I changed the look of the scene to differentiate location. I also framed out his tell tale helmet and goggle gear as well as flipped the shot horizontally in AFX. This put his canteen and other props on the other side of his body, thus making the same actor/costume read on screen as mortal enemies of an experiment gone wrong. You may not be able to appreciate all of these things watching the web version. Let me know if you want a full res version via Bittorent!

Joe - did you ever find what you where looking for? There are dozens of places. Let me know if you still need help.

Joe Pitz February 14th, 2004 09:15 PM

Hey Mark,

Thanks for the reply. The only rental places I have found so far are VER (Video Equipment Rentals) and Voice and Video. If you know of any additional ones feel free to post them or send me an e-mail at jpitz@sbcglobal.net.

Broadcast Rentals
Henerson Lighting & Grip
San Diego Stage & Light
Audio Video Supply

My biggest suggestion would be to go to www.sdfilm.com and request a resource guide. Most large areas have a film commission which have a free guide. You can also stop by or call them and they'll help you with everything you'll need.

What kind of project are you working on?

Mark Monciardini February 15th, 2004 11:49 AM

Getting a Film crew together

Does anyone know if there is a place online to find gaffers, make up artists, boom operators etc to work on films? Or perhaps another resource besides the web?

Nicholi Brossia February 15th, 2004 01:43 PM

Try www.mandy.com.

Tony Moe February 20th, 2004 02:34 PM

Hey guys,
We're right in the Balt/Wash corridornear Columbia. We do live drama and weddings for now (on the side, of course), but my high school age son has had filming-on-the-brain since he was about 8 and spends most of his time filming/editing/special effects/etc. I'd love to get him some experience with some pros. We would love to get together with others in the area, and could possibly help with the DC project in May.

Cheers,
Tony

Screenplay/ Short Film Ideas Needed

I know every filmmaker's dream is to have a screenplay handed to him/her, but i thought i'd ask in case there was anybody who had one sitting around. Does anybody have a short film screenplay they would like to see put into production. I am a student and desperately need work to add to my portfolio. I'm also a filmmaker with no film to make and its killing me slowly... Really, though, any short film ideas or screenplays would help a lot. Thanks!

Keith Loh March 7th, 2004 01:20 AM

What genre? What scope?

Gino Terribilini March 7th, 2004 04:57 AM

Anything low-budget. My specialty is drama with great cinematography and an artsy undertone. I'm willing to take on anything, though. I'd like to try a comedy or horror/ psychological thriller, but, at this point, anything will do.

Richard Alvarez March 7th, 2004 06:28 AM

Gino,

Go to www.inktip.com and search the open forum for short screenplays. One of mine was picked up by a director in London, so you never know what you will find.

Good luck

Richard

Phil French March 7th, 2004 01:30 PM

No, that didn't work - still looking!

Seth Peterson March 7th, 2004 02:16 PM
