Canopus CDV5 -cannot open avi
A client has given me an .avi that was made with Canopus. I cannot play it on my PC. My Mac cannot play it either.
When I analyze it with Gspot it says it requires the CDV5 codec. When I researched it, it turns out to be a Canopus codec. On the Canopus site I downloaded its meta driver file of Canopus codecs. Still cannot open it. I tried the Canopus utility that supposedly converts its .avis to Microsoft .avis. Still cannot open it. I cannot find a download for this cdv5 driver anywhere except a Russian download site (I decided to forego the possible virus site). I'm about to send this DVD back to the client but before I do, does anyone have any suggestions beyond what I did? I don't know anything about Canopus. |
Maybe you should ask at the Canopus forums?
I think this is the Canopus DV50 codec, which I believe you have to purchase, but I'm not certain. GB |
Yes, I should go on the Canopus forum to ask.
The easiest thing for me to do is to ask the client to convert it. If it is a codec to purchase, forget it. |
