HD era started
Last NAB - no decent affordable HD cameras.
This year - FOUR: FX1, Z1, HD 100, Panasonic No. 200. That is jump from zero to full speed. It will only get better from here. Sony took lead, made quality HD affordable. They brought quality HD to prosumer DV price. Sony will now expand HDV line up, will add Blu-Ray cameras. Panasonic and JVC will not stay behind. Add Canon! What is interesting is until now at these price levels we had nothing but DV; now have HDV, proHD, DVCPRO HD, coming Blu-Ray, and we have DVHS. Anyone at all here palnning buy SD camera? |
Yes I am but I'm waiting for 24p HDV from Sony. If the Z1 had 24p I'd be set for life I think.

Peter, why is that may I ask? JVC will have something before then, and of course Panasonic's DVCPro. I'm interested cause I'm now undecided but do want 24 (Well 25 in PAL land)p.

JVC's looks very interesting even though it's JVC!

Rex, you took the words right out of my left brain.
The JVC looks very interesting, even though it is JVC. Maybe, just maybe, since they've moved everything to a different build facility, and they've had some time to listen to former owners of various lower-priced cams, they've come up with a winner. I'm a bigger fan of 1080i on acquisition, but this still looks like a nice cam. |
"Last NAB - no decent affordable HD cameras."
Cough, cough! Well then what the heck is in my hand? Unless your telling me this little wonder isn't "decent" because it's not interlaced? |
