Need help getting aerial shots from copter
Anyone have any suggestions on shooting aerial shots?
I only have the 20x lens that came with the XL2. I'll be shooting from a helicopter. Any chance of me getting any steady, usable footage, or do you reccommend that I get some type of rig, or just forget it? Thanks for your help. Chuck |

Chuck,
I shot some footage from a heli down here with the Broward County Sherrif's Ofice. The 20x does fine. the problem I had wasn't the need of a stabilizer rig, it was the size of the XL2. If it's a small medivac chopper, there's very little room to manuever with the XL2. I wished I had brought my FX1. For part of the trip , I sat next to the pilot, and there was NO room to move the cam around. Then we grounded, and I moved to the back ,which was better.Find out what size chopper it is. There's also an issue getting the radio audio. You need a special adaptor plug to go from the radio to your XLr on the XL2. Stuff I wished I knew BEFORE the gig. If you need any more info, you can email your number to me at yarock@aol.com Bruce S. yarock |
