Ripping and Editing DVDs
Hey everyone. I have 2 G5s and I want to be able to pull stuff from a DVD and edit sections of it, and then burn it back on to DVD to show in a psychology class. I was wondering what I would need to do this. On my PC I use a pinnacle studio 9 and a DVC90 to rip stuff from an RCA output on my DVD player. I have done it on PC before but never on a Mac and for this project I have to use school supplied computers. Any help would be great.

Cinematize is one program which I think does this, but I've never used it:

Get MPEG Streamclip to rip the dvd's into dv video which you can edit in any app FCP iMovie etc..

If the DVDs are copy-protected then you are in a gray zone. Cinematize will not extract these DVDs at all. I have done work for large film companies who, for various reasons, can only get archival footage from commercial DVD releases. This requires me to use a couple of peices of analog equiptment to get the scenes into the computer. However this is with the permission of the copyright holder! |
